The colorful rings represents the five main regions of the world (five continents ). Blue for Europe, Yellow for Asia, Black for Africa, Green for Oceanic and Red for America. The Olympic charter says, "the five-ringed symbol represents the union of the five continents and the meeting of Atheletes from throughout the world at the Olympic Games.
